Sub-acute care is defined as
"a comprehensive and cost-effective inpatient programme for patients who
have had an acute event, have a determined course of treatment, and don't
require intensive diagnostic and/or invasive procedures." Some examples
are amputations, brain injuries, cancer and chronic lung conditions like
emphysema, hip and knee replacements, Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injuries
and strokes. In these types of cases, sub-acute care is offered as an
alternative to continued hospitalization (or acute care).
Encompassing a multi-disciplinary service model our sub-acute and rehabilitation hospitals offer nursing and medical care, as well as occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychology, respiratory therapy, speech therapy and many more thereby ensuring that patients are equipped with the skills and tools needed to resume independent living and quality of life.

Step-down facility for patients discharged from acute hospitals, but who still needs nursing care before returning home.
